May 2023 DRAFT Minutes Annual Parish Meeting
AT THE ANNUAL MEETING for the PARISHES OF BARKSTON AND SYSTON held in The Village Hall, Barkston, on Monday 15th May 2022 at 7.45 pm
PRESENT
Councillor Miss M E Nussey
Chairman of the Parish Council – in the Chair
and 10 members of the public
1. MINUTES
The minutes of the last Annual Parish Meeting were read, approved as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.
2. MATTERS RAISED BY PARISHIONERS
A local resident asked if the Parish Council would consider supporting a reduction of the speed limit on Hough Road to 30 mph. In support of this request he pointed out that the road was narrow and with many bends and accesses off it, as well as some blind bends. He pointed out that in nearby Carlton Scroop, a not dissimilar village to Barkston, the limit had been reduced to 30 mph.
There was some sympathy with the request, and the Chair said that the matter would be considered formally by the Parish Council prior to a decision being made.
Another local resident asked for an update in regard to the planning situation with regard to the extension to the numbers allowed at the dog walking/training site off Hough Road, Barkston. The Clerk updated the meeting with information from the Planning Enforcement section at SKDC. It was pointed out by the resident that no decision appeared to have been made by SKDC, although the application had been made some time ago, and the Clerk said that he would check with the Planning Department and advise the resident concerned. The Chair also confirmed that consideration would be given at the following Parish Council meeting.
The meeting closed at 7.53 pm
